Version 0.1.0 of the pmap
mapping package is available. This version includes libraries for
laser-stablized odometry, particle-filter-based mapping, and global map
relaxation.
16 Nov 2004-
Gazebo 0.5.0 as been released. This version is compatible with Player 1.6.

12 Nov 2004-
Player 1.6 and
Stage 1.3.5 have been released. They are mutually compatible and are both compatible with the previously released
librtk 2.3.0. Player 1.6 is also compatible with
Gazebo 0.4,
Gazebo 0.4.1,
and the forthcoming Gazebo 0.5.
Lots of new stuff in Player this time; check out the new
docs to see what.
Nothing new in Stage; it's just been updated to work with Player 1.6.
2 Nov 2004- Gazebo 0.4.1 has been

; this is a bug-fix release of Gazebo 0.4, with the build scripts

The MARIE project has made their first
release, MARIE-0.1.0 (Tinker), which includes support for
Player (and CARMEN and RobotFlow).

Bernard Guillot has provided patches to make Player and Stage build under
Cygwin. The patches are merged in

Stage 1.3.4 has been released; this version is compatible with
Player 1.5 and librtk 2.3.0.

Player 1.5 has been released; this version is compatible with librkt 2.3.0,
Gazebo 0.4.0, and (mostly) Stage 1.3.3.
Player 1.5 contains a number of bugfixes and many new drivers.
NOTE:The units have been normalized in the C++
client library to MKS: positions, angles, and their time derivatives are
now specified in meters and radians. You will have to change your
code.

We were
Slashdotted!
Unfortunately, they got the story wrong, suggesting that we were providing
instructions for converting a Segway HT to an RMP. Fortunately, they quickly
posted Andrew's correction. Unfortunately, as with most Slashdot stories, the
discussion quickly devolved into a meaningless religious war among idiots
about which operating system is best for what.
As a result of this publicity, I've moved and password-protected the
RMP information and videos. I'll post the relevant info via the VPO.
21 June 2003- Player now (experimentally) supports the Segway
RMP. PLEASE read the HowTo
before downloading a CVS snapshot.
2 June 2003- A build script bug may prevent Player-1.3.2 from building cleanly on your system. The
new 'Acoustics' driver requires the
GNU Scientific Library. You must install GSL or disable the driver with
'./configure --disable-acoustics'
24 May 2003- Player and Stage 1.3.2 have been released. Please

12 May 2003- The Robotics Data Set Repository
(Radish) is now online. This is a great place to find Stage world

24 Mar 2003- Papers on P/S have been accepted for ICAR'03, and submitted to IROS'03. Find them on the publications page.
24 Feb 2003- Reed Hedges
has posted some
patches
for Player 1.3.1, Stage 1.3.1, and librtk 2.1.1 that fix a couple of things
and add some functionality, including a new communication mechanism.
Read about the patches, which will likely be included in the next
release.
10 Feb 2003 (news we didn't notice on 12 Aug 2002)- A
user recently told us Player/Stage was NASA
Cool Robot of the Week for 12 August last year.

Batalin's Java client has been updated for Player 1.3.x.

12 Jan 2003- A nasty byteswapping bug has been found in the
omniposition device in Stage 1.3.1, making it unresponsive to speed commands.

Jung's Python client, PyPlayer, has been

19 Dec 2002- The Player/Stage project has been at SourceForge
for 1 year today, having accrued 2000 downloads. Read a

Burns has written a Common LISP client library for Player 1.3.x. There's

5 Dec 2002- Stage 1.3.1 released. As per the new compatibilty policy, this release works with any Player-1.3 revision, including Player-1.3.1.

26 Nov 2002- There's a bug in the position device in Stage 1.3.
It causes incorrect heading and speed values to be returned. For a patch,
